NaBloPoMo Day 12: What Next?

I had a doctor's appointment yesterday, and we talked about how crummy I have been feeling lately. I have been tired and feeling down, and even had a couple of what felt like hot flashes. I thought maybe my thyroid levels were off, since I'm taking Synthroid for Hashimoto's.

She ran a bunch of tests. I got a thyroid panel, including T3, an iron test, and a test to see if I'm starting menopause early. Everything was normal.

I should feel relieved but I'm stuck on this question: What now? How can I start moving toward feeling better and losing weight again?


  1. I thought everything was "normal" too until I went to see a naturopath and a hormone specialist with whom the naturopath partners. Their "normal" and what the "regular" medical community sees as normal, were, in fact, different. Did you use a saliva test to check your hormone levels? They are much more accurate and thorough than blood tests. I know I beat this drum a lot, but it has made a world of difference for me.

  2. Even though they were blood tests, I'm almost directly in the center of the normal range on everything tested, which would suggest that I'm probably okay. I feel like it's probably time to stop looking for a medical reason and start looking for a motivation reason. The post by Laura on my 11 links page really resonated with me -- I need to be brave enough to step out of my comfort zone and risk being noticed.
