maybe I should go on vacation every week

Weight Chart

It's funny that some of my all-time best weigh-ins come just as I'm returning from vacation. I still haven't gotten back to the weight I was after my flirtation with potato pancakes in New York City, but this week at the lake, I didn't count my points and my food groups were basically alcohol, cheese, and fried. Fish and chips with beer, wine and cheese, crabcakes and more wine... I think that the reason it didn't hurt me was that we did a lot of biking and walking around. I also was not working on my dissertation, which seems to require frequent snacks for distraction and pain relief.

This week I'm going back to counting points more normally -- 22 points a day and 35 weekly allowance points. I found that I was ending up using a lot of extra points by trying to give myself a few more each day, because I didn't have a stockpile of points available by the time the weekend rolled around. Maybe if I can stick to this, I can get to goal and stop thinking about weight loss quite so much.

  1. Just found your blog in a google search. I love how you have your goals listed in your sidebar. Can't figure out how to do that with my template, but our goals are similar (I'm aiming to get into the 150's too and am SO close!)

But I am the opposite when it comes to vacations. I had two weekends where I couldn't plan out my meals and it really hurt me.

I'm going to the beach this weekend and am so stressed about planning properly. Keeping my fingers crossed that it goes as well for me as it did for you!

  2. Not to burst your bubble, Jen, but in my experience getting to goal means you have to think about weight loss even more. Well, not loss so much, but vigilance is necessary. Just as there's no crying in baseball, there's no relaxing in weight maintenance.

    Darn it all, anyway.

And I wish someone had told me this when I got to goal 10 years ago. Maybe I wouldn't be losing those pounds over again now.

  3. Had to laugh at your vacation "diet." That sounds fun! Best of luck getting back to basics. You are so close to goal, you can almost taste it! Keep on keepin' on girl.
